“Kaikissa maissa kuolema merkitsee lopullisuutta. Se laskeutuu ja verhot laskeutuvat. Mutta ei Espanjassa! Espanjassa verhot nousevat. Monet ihmiset elävät elämänsä seinien välissä kunnes kuoleman päivä koittaa ja heidät tuodaan ulos aurinkoon. Espanjassa vainajat ovat elävämpiä kuin minkään muun maan vainajat: heidän profiilinsa vahingoittaa kuin parturin veitsen terä. Kuolemalla sutkautteleminen ja sen hautominen on tavanomaista Espanjalaisille.”
